The information that you should never share on the internet or social networks

The INCIBE Internet User Security Office points out seven pieces of information that should be avoided sharing in order to safeguard our privacy and our own personal safety

"Although each user is free to do whatever they want with their personal data , sharing certain information can have very serious consequences for our security", based on this premise, the Internet User Security Office of the National Cybersecurity Institute (INCIBE) shows seven types of data and information that should not be shared, under any circumstances , on the internet if we want to keep our privacy and personal security safe.

More and more Spaniards are browsing and buying online. This increases the number of victims of deception through the network, since sharing the data allows anyone to save it even if it has later been deleted.

For this reason, the National Cybersecurity Institute (INCIBE) alerts and provides a list of good practices so as not to fall into the error of publishing content for which regret later is late.

 one. Email and phone number

Although it is communal for them to be used to register on websites, it is not necessary to share freely, in public places, neither the email nor the telephone number. "We expose ourselves to being victims of spam, phishing and all kinds of cyberattacks, " they point out from the Office.

two. Address and location

Sharing our real-time location or home address is very dangerous . "We do not know the intentions of someone who may be interested in knowing where we live, what places we frequent or when we are not at home."

3. Photos of minors

"We are all dying to show our son, nephew or grandson to the world, especially on social media." However, we do not know where these images may end or who may have access to them. It is best to cover his face in some way .

Four. Compromising photos

The fact of uploading photos to our social networks and the internet already has an impact on our digital identity and must be done with head. Posting compromising or intimate or sexual photos can pose a great threat to our safety and have very serious consequences, such as sextortion or cyberbullying .

5. Personal documents

Our ID, driver's license, employment contract or bank details are very sensitive personal data. By disclosing it, we expose ourselves, for example, to identity theft and the use of our data fraudulently.

6. Opinions, complaints, compromising comments

It is common to use the internet to express yourself and share criticisms and complaints. "However, a comment posted on everything on the network can reach the ears of people who may feel offended or even attacked, and who may not take our comments too well."

7. Private conversations

In the same way that we should not share photos of third parties without their approval, private conversations are not something that we should share on the internet , especially if they contain personal data or information that could be considered as revealing of secrets and the other person would prefer not to share.
